The Department of Social Action and Citizenship has presented the institutional campaign "We are Catalonia. Country of Coexistence" within the framework of the recent signing of the National Immigration Agreement.

The objective of this initiative is to inform public opinion regarding cultural diversity and the importance of maintaining social cohesion and to convey to the general public a message of normality with regard to migration.

The campaign appeals to the collective memory, recalling that Catalonia has acted as host country to immigration in the past and has also been a source of migration itself. The aim is to remind public opinion that diversity has been, is, and will always be a characteristic of our people, that Catalonia is a land of passage and reception.

The campaign gives specific mention to the National Immigration Agreement so that interested parties can ascertain the proposals put forward by the Agreement from now until 2020, in order to guarantee optimum social cohesion and improve migration management in a concerted manner, with the consensus of the vast majority of the parties involved.
