The call, made by  Fundación CTIC through the www.1arroba1euro.org initiative, takes the shape of a “Contest of Innovative Ideas for Human Development through Information Technologies and Comunication”. The projects selected will be carried out with the assistance of this Foundation.

The third call for the www.1arroba1euro.org  initiative is now open. This year, the call is a “Contest of Innovative Ideas for Human Development through Information Technologies and Comunication”. If your project is chosen, the “prize” includes meeting with a team of researchers and technicians from Fundación CTIC to develop the idea and make it real.
The call is aimed at last year’s students, postgraduate students or people recently graduated from Latin America and Africa. They will be granted a scholarship to investigate and develop their projects within the frame of cReaTic-Laboratory for Creativity and Technological Research together with researchers from Fundación CTIC for a maximum period of 12 months, and then be able to implement these projects in their countries. 

Due date for presenting projects is September 30, 2009.

A one day training Workshop took place on the 22nd of August in Geneva, Switzerland on the occasion of the Stewards Ecumenical Leadership Training Seminar organised by the World Council of Churches. The purpose of the workshop was to introduce the Learning to Live Together manual to the participants as a tool for peace building. Potters for Peace, an easy and cheap way to make water safe to drink

Water is essential for life. But it has to be in very good condition, otherwise it can transmit diseases. Indeed, in the Aims for the Millennium, approved in 2000, one of the targets to reach by 2015 was to 'reduce by half the number of people lacking access to safe drinking water'. Fortunately, an American NGO called 'Potters for Peace' has found an easy way to reach it: the 'Ceramic Water Filter', a device that makes water safe to drink, a system which filters contaminated water, for very little cost, and which can be made with very simple technology.
