The results of the second round of the piano branch were announced yesterday. Among the eighteen pianists participating in the second round, the six pianists that have been selected for the semifinal are: Vestard Shimkus, Jong Yung Kim, Scipione Sangiovanni, Vladimir Khomyakov, William (Hong Chu) Youn and Sofia Vasheruk. The semifinal will be next Sunday 22nd of March at Petit Palau.

This year the focus is on short stories up to 5 pages long. As always, the idea is to close the digital divide by showing that the Internet is a way of spreading culture, and that it is accessible to everyone.
On March 14 at 17:00h was held the Final Round of the Trio Branch. Nozomi Matsumoto (piano), Misa Yang (violin) and Sietse-Jan Wijemberg (cello) won the first prize. The Prize Isaac Albeniz (second Prize) was for the members of Trio Quintilian: Olha Chipak (piano), Yi Mo (violin) and Ruodi Li (cello). The third place was for Trio Monte whose members Anca Ioana Lupu (piano), Ana Rachel Feitosa de Araujo (violin) and Claude Frochaux (cello) received the prize Family Guarro Tapis.

The Human Rights Council is holding its 10th regular session from 2 to 27 March 2009 at the Palais des Nations in Geneva. During the session, reports will be presented by independent human rights experts on several issues. Arigatou International will follow the deliberations of the Human Rights Council and will co-organize a side event on the 13th of March on intercultural and interfaith education. Arigatou Foundation has co-signed two joint statements with other NGOs for submission to the Human Rights Council. Read more ...
