The purpose: fight against the disease, or diseases, that affect the brain such as Alzheimer. For about twelve hours, the Telethon spoke to different ill people and its families and also with different experts that approached the audience to those diseases. Together with them there were also popular faces, to cheer up the show, and most important, over 2700 volunteers from more than 300 associations attending the telephone!! All volunteers joined a previous information meeting where they were trained in their tasks for the Telethon. There were 21 information workshops this year in Barcelona, and another one in the different places were the show took place.

The amount collected will be used to finance investigation projects in the field of brain diseases. Since its launch 13 years ago, Foundation TV3 Telethon has financed over 370 projects of biomedical research. In the past edition, dedicated to cancer, Telethon gathered more than 8.712.000 Euros, an amount difficult to overpass. Even so, this year’s collection is far from short, going over 5 million euros.
