When you think of an everyday hero, who comes to mind? A friend, a family member, your boss? You can nominate that “everyday person changing the world” for CNN Heroes – but hurry, nominations are due by August 31.

Every week, a new hero is profiled on CNN networks. And each year, the top Heroes and the CNN Hero of the Year are honored at “CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute.” Heroes might show extraordinary dedication to the welfare of young people; to the enhancement of human health; to a fight for human or equal rights; or to any number of other issues. Recent heroes have included Elena Durón Miranda, the founder of an organization that combats child labor in Argentina, and Robin Lim, a midwife who runs birthing clinics in Indonesia.
Some of the fine print:
- Nominations must be in the name of a single individual who is at least 13 years old. You can’t nominate yourself, and you can’t nominate a group or an organization.
- If you nominate someone under 25, be sure to note that they qualify for the “Young Wonder” category.
- Nominations can be submitted in either English or Spanish.
