Share web content much easier with RSS Extended!

NGOs who use the Abcore Cadi Services Platform will have far more flexibility in deciding which part of a web page they want to export to another.

In case you didn't know already, an RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a type of format used on web pages to export their content to other sites. So, what exactly can be shared using this format? What RSS can share ranges from up-to-date information like news stories for example to any other content source that the user wishes to compile and post. The Abcore Cadi Internet Services Platform has already had RSS at its disposal. But now we have something even better! It's called RSS Extended. So, what is RSS Extended? Keep reading to find out!

RSS Extended is an advanced version which makes exporting content to another website much easier and more flexible. With this new version, NGOs can choose the specific part of the report or other web content of interest to be shared on the other website. The options that this new version offers are:
  • Normal (the RSS feed is taken as it comes, without any changes)
  • Only the body (the RSS feed is the body of the news item)
  • Complete (the RSS feed is the summary and the body of the news item)

Why is the RSS Extended useful?

To sum up, RSS is very useful for publishing news stories from other websites on your own page, such as those from federal agencies or the media. The benefits are not restricted to this, though. RSS not only allow us to import content onto our own site but also lets others spread content from our web page onto theirs. For example, if a web users want, they can receive in their inbox or on their web page any news that are published on the organisation's website.

This new service is available for all web pages hosted by Abcore Cadi at no extra cost.

The Digital Emotion Grant has been awarded to intellectual disability!

The Digital Emotion Grant has been awarded to intellectual disability!

The organisation Best Buddies has won the grant to have a promotional video made about their activities. In addition, we have chosen eight organisations to be awarded with an honourable mention.

HOLABest Buddies is the winning organisation of the Digital Emotion Grant. Although there were many causes which deserved the grant, intellectual disability has stood out above the rest. The iWith.org grants committee has analyzed 85 proposals that have applied for the grant to obtain a creative and promotional video about their organisations. This process has been full of meetings and consultations among all the participants.

The theme of disability and intellectual diversity is currently being defended by a large number of small organisations which have applied for the grant. As a result, iWith.org and Inuit Films have chosen to encourage them to work together on this project, convinced that this step should also help the field to get strength. For this reason, we have additionally selected eight organisations to obtain an honourable mention for the Digital Emotion Grant. The selected organisations are the following: As Irene Menéndez says, "intellectual disability operates almost universally in the midst of a tradition of exclusion and segregation, denying people with disabilities essential opportunities for socialization, integration and participation within the community."
