Semántica Social launches a new online training campus

The project worked on the Abcore Cadí platform has been developed directly on the new version of Moodle. It now offers a modern appearance with a creative design.

Semántica Social (Social Semantics) is a training campus for charity projects, NGOs and social entrepreneurs. The project launched by María Mercedes García is a platform which offers courses to improve communication of not-for-profit causes with a particular focus on digital marketing, focussing on increasing awareness and fundraising online. It was within this context that María Mercedes contacted us to improve her virtual Moodle campus and to improve the usability of the website.

From there, we started an exciting journey in which we jointly decided to integrate the Social Semantics campus into the internet services platform Abcore Cadí, and directly install version 3, which is the latest version of Moodle, onto María Mercedes’ training platform. The appearance and design of Moodle campuses are generally not very modern, therefore we also changed the design so that the webpage had a touch of creativity and offered a more modern look. “With iWith I feel that the support that they have given me has been of quality”, María Mercedes told us.

Finally, icons for social media sites were added at the foot of the page, the forms system was improved and the corporate colours of the training campus were maintained. Social Semantics they have told us that they are highly satisfied with the project, and therefore we feel once again that we have accomplished our mission.

Online shopping with Xarxa Consum Solidari made easier

With the software Prestashop, Iwith.org has helped to plan, make and design the new virtual online shop for Xarxa de Consum Solidari.

The social economy network Xarxa de Consum Solidari (Solidarity Consumption Network), who sets out to create alternative models of production and consumption to those that currently exist, is offering online shopping to all their users, thanks to their new virtual shop. The e-commerce project, along with our experience and support, has been created through PrestaShop, which is a free software that allows the creation, management and implementation of virtual shops.

During the process, we have created the virtual shop using the LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) platform, on Abcore Cadi. Also, we have worked alongside Xarxa de Consum Solidari on implementing the online shop’s design, along with increasing usability and training for the website administrators.

Visually, the shop is made up of an Access section for customers, where users can begin their session in the shop. Just below this, there is a shopping trolley icon, where the user can see how many products they have added to their trolley. In order to make purchasing easier on the site, we have also made room for a search bar where users can directly find the product they are looking for, by entering in the name of the product. The same products can also be filtered by price (from highest to lowest and viceversa) and users can see whether a particular product is in stock.

The virtual shop is made up of different categories: seasonal hampers, vegetables and funghi, fruit, drinks, pulses, etc. to name a few. Also, we have created a section in the bottom menu to allow users to be able to control orders, returns and refunds and their addresses and personal information. In this respect, the online shop has an intuitive and easy usability and allows users to order products online which they can they collect directly from the shop itself.
