144 contestants from 33 countries have been accepted to participate in the 55 Competition Maria Canals that will be held next march. Among the 144 contestants that have been accepted, 87 belong to the piano branch and there is 19 trios.

Ilya Maximov will play Piano Concerto No. 2, Op. 18, in C minor by Rachmaninov.

Ilya Maximov, winner of the second Price and Price from the public of the 54 International Music Competition Maria Canals de Barcelona, will play the concerto for piano Piano Concerto No. 2, Op. 18, in C minor by Rachmaninov with the Symphonic Orchestra del Vallès on 24th and 25th January 2009 in the Palau de la Música Catalana, during the cycle “Concerts Simfonics al Palau”.

Government of Catalonia signs pioneering agreement with UNDP, United Nations

On January, the Catalan Government of Catalonia signed a framework agreement of understanding between the Catalan Agency for Development Cooperation and the United Nations Development Programme, through which both institutions commited to a strengthening of the relationship. This is the first agreement signed by the United Nations institution with a non-state entity.
