Environment Award
The Environment Award of the Generalitat de Catalunya was created in September 2005 to give public recognition to the work carried out by individuals, entities or institutions in the promotion of the environment. For its first edition, it will consider research projects or initiatives related to the environment friendly administration of water and the sustainability of edification. The annual award of the Catalan Agency on waste disposal for initiatives in the reduction and recycling of waste disposal will also be given the same day.

The organizations working on migrations will meet on 4 and 5 May in Barcelona to participate in the International Preparatory Committee to the II World Social Migrations Forum to take place from 22 to 24 June 2006 in Rivas-Vaciamadrid, Spain.
From 16 to 20 March, the Observatory on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (Observatori DESC) based in Barcelona organized one of a series of regional consultations on women and adequate housing for the Special Rapporteur on adequate housing. The regional consultation, covering Mediterranean countries (two-day training and a two-day regional civil society consultation), gathered testimonies of grassroots women, with an estimated 20-25 participants from the region (Algeria, Croatia, France, Greece, Italy, Morocco, Portugal, Spain, Tunisia and Turkey).
