New step in the support to the Catalan language, and to the associative cultural Catalan movement


The Catalan is a living, rich language, and spoken nowadays by approximately 9 million persons in 4 countries, basically in Catalunya, Baleares Islands (Mallorca and the others), and Valencia, where it is a official language; in Andorra, where it is "the" official language, in the East zone of the south of France, where it survives with some difficulties, and other, more small, territories (Murcia -Spain-, and Sardegna -Italy-).

The Federation of Study' Centers of Catalan Language has joined to the Entity of Associative Communication, which arose from a process of civil debate (2003-2005), for to promote the communication of the associative cultural Catalan movement, conscious of the need to normalize, and of for to improve the network. The associative cultural Catalan movement is, for the majority of mass media, a great stranger, in spite of agglutinating thousands of entities distributed in Catalunya.

With this incorporation, already they are 22 the federations that are members of the Entity of Associative Communication.

The Federation of Study' Centers of Catalan Language is a federative association, created in 1992, with more than hundred study' centers, about, completely, the linguistic area. With headquarters in the Institute of Catalan Studies, it has improved the diffusion of activities, publications and projects of the centers, the research, with congresses, it has given technical support and has stimulated the recognition and the institutional support. In 2003, with the Autonomous Government of Catalonia, was created the Institute Ramon Muntaner, a Foundation of the Studies' Centers of the Catalan Language, with headquarters in Móra d'Ebre (Catalonia), in order to give support to the studies' centers.Insert here the body text.
