The NGO Memoria Sin Fronteras has set out to collect flash-memories in different models: SD, CF, MC, MS…that are left in our night table. The aim is to classify them, to format them, to full them with contents and to send them to places where the container and its contents can be used instead of throw them away or let them aging in a drawer.

The world of technology advance so fast that, in a short time, some devices that we bought are not enough to cover our needs. We buy or we are given other devices more advanced, more moderns or with a higher capacity. Among these objects that invade our life are these flash-memories in different models: SD, CF, MC, MS… and also pen drives.

The storage capacity is increasing and is being doubled nearly each six to nine months. Our needs increase in the same way. Thereby we all have in our drawers some useless memories that work perfectly. They are not enough for us, they are obsolete and a hindrance, but undoubtedly they will be useful to other people.

Some time ago, we were having a drink at an inspired night when Alberto de Lope and Vidal García had the idea of sending these devices that are left in our drawers and that we don’t use due to its short capacity to people and countries with fewer resources. Who uses nowadays a 32MB or 64MB memory for his photos or music? Nearly nobody, we reject it because we think it can hold anything.

Actually, these devices hold a lot of things and can be useful to those who don’t have enough resources.

The project started in the middle of 2007. In November 2008 bought the domain. In January 2009 appears the first version of the web site. The line of work was established so that the project can come true or maybe it gets lost in the cyber-obscurity.

At this moment there are two people that are collaborating and they hope they can win volunteers. If you are interested and you want to know more about the project: http://memoriasinfronteras.com/joomla/
