Estava parlant d’immersió lingüística i potser vaig ser maldestre dient mal tractadors als pares que utilitzen els seus fills per denunciar les seves escoles i reclamar un sistema que els perjudicaria. El sistema català ofereix que els nens tinguin aptituds en dues llengües i això és demostra com a positiu pels estudiants.

No, no m’ho vull creure això. Això és el que intenten, convertir-nos en resistents. Però la nostra vocació és avançar. En la normalització de la llengua queda molta feina a fer amb la immigració. A ningú se li demana que renuncií a la seva llengua, però si que se li demana que aprengui la nostra llengua comuna, sobretot a les noves generacions. Són catalans que podran anar a la Xina a comerciar amb la llengua dels seus pares, però que aquí parlaran català.
Parlant dels immigrants, aquí el treball amb altres entitats i associacions és bàsic per assolir objectius tan ambiciosos com els que us proposeu.
Evidentment. Si no, no podríem dur a terme programes com els grups de conversa o el programa Quedem? La col·laboració de les associacions d’immigrants és bàsica. És una feina artesanal, costa, però en tres anys ja han passat 26 o 27 mil persones pel programa Quedem?.
I com es treballarà amb resta de món associatiu per assolir els objectius del 50 aniversari?
Com ja ho estem fent. En les consultes per la independència, per exemple, vam donar llibertat a cada seu d’Òmnium per posicionar-s’hi i pràcticament totes es van involucrar amb la resta de teixit civil en les consultes. A més, treballem en iniciatives molt maques a tot el territori... Sense el treball en xarxa les grans iniciatives i els grans programes no són possibles.
Aquest treball en xarxa també es va veure en la vostra capacitat l’any passat d’unir el sentiment de país a la manifestació del 10-J.
Si, de fet, ho vam fer amb sindicats, patronal, col·legis professionals... Va ser un treball conjunt i vam agafar un protagonisme que feia feredat davant de tantes entitats...
I no obstant això aquest any us heu desmarcat d’una nova manifestació...
Hem rebut crítiques, però no creiem que fer una manifestació cada any sigui el que toca; posar el 10 de juliol al calendari tampoc toca perquè ja tenim l’11 de setembre; fer una manifestació per comptar quants independentistes hi ha tampoc. Volem sumar i a la manifestació de fa un any hi havia molta gent que no era independentista però va venir, i els necessitem a tots.
No hi ha manifestació però l’acte dels 50 anys sembla fet expressament per agafar el relleu.
Tot i que la coincidència de dates és casual, evidentment ho hem volgut aprofitar. Al començament no plantejàvem actes de celebració, després va venir la idea d’un homenatge als fundadors i, finalment, la d’enviar un missatge més concís. I bé, quan al missatge... Havíem realitzat una manifestació de protesta que va ser tot un èxit, el moviment de les consultes que avança fins l’èxit de Barcelona i, després, arriba la pregunta: “I ara, què?”. Nosaltres hem pensat que el pas lògic ara mateix és parlar d’impostos. La sobirania comença per aquí, per exemples com els Estats Units quan van decidir no pagar més impostos a la corona anglesa. I el pas lògic és l’objecció fiscal si no s’assoleixen els objectius.
Mirant cap al futur. Quan Òmnium celebri els 100 anys els objectius d’aquest 50 aniversari estaran assolits?
Jo crec que si. De fet, espero que Òmnium no serà necessari. De fet, som una cosa estranya. El Jordi Porta deia que havia intentat trobar Òmniums per altres països, allò de cercar referents internacionals, i no els trobava. No tenim col·legues internacionals per que Catalunya és una anomalia al món i crec que d’aquí 50 anys aquesta anomalia s’haurà resolt.

En una conversa per telèfon amb el Joan Triadú poc després de la manifestació em va dir: “els fundadors estarien molt contents”. Si t’hi fixes fa 50 anys van dir hem de salvar la llengua i la cultura per assegurar el futur del país. Ara, en canvi, hem de salvar el país per assegurar el futur de la llengua i la cultura. I salvar el país vol dir donar-li la màxima sobirania. I és en aquest sentit, que persones com el propi president Pujol que sempre havia dit que no ens capfiquéssim amb la independència, ara diu capfiquem-nos-hi, per que a dins d’Espanya ens ofegaran la llengua i la cultura.
