Network of Entities of the Third Social Sector of Catalonia
It was created in 2003 with the objective of working to improve the well-being of people with non-covered social needs and in priority to work for their social inclusion, the consolidation of the entities and the recognition of economic sectors actions, the public administrations and the whole Catalan society with the incidence of the social politics in Catalonia.
Take part of the Network 22 organizations of the second level (federations) that represents more than 2000 entities of Catalonia within associations, insertion companies, foundations and co-operatives that work in favor of the social inclusion for the most disadvantaged groups and to modify the conditions that generate exclusion.
The third social sector is formed by organizations that promote programs of sensitization, preventive, welfare, promotion of volunteering and civil participation, as well as in the environment of the searching and completion of the third sector.
The performances of the entities are directed to groups as: infancy and family, women, young, elders, disabled, chronic patients, drug dependent, immigrants, refugees and provided shelter, ethnic minorities, recluses and exrecluses, people with difficulties to integrating to the work force, homeless, groups in emergency situation for catastrophe and others. The organizations whom it represents give service to more than 800.000 people, generate about 16000 jobs and there is more than 50.000 collaborators and volunteers who work in favor of the most vulnerable groups of the society. Association of Entities for Social Action (ECAS)
2003: is born as a result of the new fusion of NGOs that are working in Catalonia in the social sector with the main objective of giving attention to groups that are under exclusion risk. Go to unit 1.
Catalan Federation of Social Volunteering
A private and plural organization that coordinates and offers service to the members, of social volunteering, and it is directed and managed by volunteers of the proper affiliations. Go to unit 3.
