Association of Entities for Social Action (ECAS)ECAS, Association of Catalan Entities of Social Action 2003 is born as a result of the new fusion of organizations that are working in Catalonia in the social sector with the main objective of giving attention to groups that are under alienation or exclusion risk. The intervention of these entities is based on the fight for the equality of opportunities in the whole population.
The new emerging of this Association can be explained as a awareness of the importance of having a space of exchange, consensus, coordination and dialogue between the organizations, the administrations, and different social agents that allows a better intervention and make the inclusion of new sectors of population with great needs easier.
Initially, the platform was founded by 40 organizations with the following characteristics:
- They are non profit organizations
- They work with groups with risk of social exclusion.
- They have a career and experience to offer professional quality services to the serious disadvantages that our society generates.
- They have a changed view of their own performance: in the community actions, in the closer environment, and in their own will of influencing the civil society and the administration to improve the factors helping to include this people.
And they must have few interests and similar targets to allow them, from his acting environment, to establish a platform that represents them. And this space/place must be an experience exchange that facilitates the coordination and the common projects.
In the entities enrolled there is more than 250.000 people attending their programs per year, with more than 3000 professionals employed and a large number of volunteers. The proximity and the knowledge of the group are also key factors of these organizations.

Network of Entities of the Third Social Sector of Catalonia
It was created in 2003 with the objective of working to improve the well-being of people with non-covered social needs and in priority to work for their social inclusion, the consolidation of the entities and the recognition of economic sectors actions, the public administrations and the whole Catalan society with the incidence of the social politics in Catalonia.Go to unit 2.
Catalan Federation of Social Volunteering
A private and plural organization that coordinates and offers service to the members, of social volunteering, and it is directed and managed by volunteers of the proper affiliations. Go to unit 3.
