Arigatou International Geneva was invited to participate in a series of discussions to re-examine the mission of education and the meaning of learning in an uncertain world during the Oxford Symposium in Comparative and International Education (OXSCIE).

OXSCIE 2017 took place on from 8 to 9 June in Oxford University, UK and was organized by the Department of Education and St. Antony's College, in partnership with the Aga Khan Foundation and the Global Centre for Pluralism.

As in previous years, the Interfaith Council on Ethics Education for Children held its annual meeting to help strategize and provide recommendations for the next period. This time, the meeting took place from 10 to 14 August 2017 in Coimbatore, India where the headquarters of Shanti Ashram, a long-time partner of Arigatou International Geneva, is located.

At the meeting, members of the Interfaith Council had the opportunity to review achievements and challenges of Arigatou International Geneva during the last year, reflect on relevant topics regarding Ethics Education for Children, and exchange views on the strategic plan for the next three years, providing technical recommendations as well as rationale-related inputs.

In its constant efforts to promote children and youth participation in topics that affect them, Arigatou International Geneva, in collaboration with the Permanent Mission of Morocco and the Permanent Mission of Sweden to the United Nations in Geneva, UNICEF, and the Kofi Annan Foundation organized an event titled: “Learning to Live Together: Enhancing Children and Youth Participation to Prevent Exclusion, Hatred and Violence”.

Panel Discussion on the Role of Ethics Education in Strengthening Families and Nurturing Spirituality in Children

More than 100 attendants participated in a panel discussion held in Panama City on 11 May 2017, during the third day of the Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC) Fifth Forum. In this occasion, participants were invited to reflect on the role of ethics education to nurture spirituality in early childhood through family engagement.

Child and Youth Participation in the GNRC Fifth Forum

From 6 to 8 May 2017, 64 children and youth from 21 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, North and South America and the Caribbean, gathered in Panama City to learn from one another and to get prepared for an active participation in the discussions, working groups and plenary sessions of the Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC) Fifth Forum. Arigatou International Geneva was commissioned to plan, organize and run the Pre-Meeting, support the consultations with children that took place before the event in several countries, and the activities that will follow after the Forum.
