Gil Gayarre Foundation wins the Web Award for Technology Projects 2018

This entity is dedicated to assist and support the life project of people with intellectual disabilities and their families, and defend their rights and obligations as citizens to achieve the highest degree of social inclusion possible.The objective of this award is to help organizations that promote technology with criteria for improving society. The winning project will have an iWith.org website with accompaniment until 2021.

The Gil Gayarre Foundation is a consolidated organization of recognized prestige for its model of personalized, adaptable, flexible and inclusive care for people with intellectual disabilities. The programs are developed through the elaboration of a detailed individual plan, always counting on the opinion of people with disabilities and their families, in order to realize their goals, dreams, aspirations and aspirations.


 
The entity wants to launch the Plena Vejez Project that consists of creating a Web that brings together all the relevant knowledge about Disability and Aging, so that it can be useful for professionals and families who are facing for the first time a new stage of the cycle vital. The Web will contain materials, bibliography, videos, testimonies, tools and intervention methodologies in relation to aging in general and more specifically also that of people with intellectual disabilities.
 
The iWith.org Scholarships Committee, together with Ukon Cherry Ltd. , which contributes with its unselfish endowment to this prize, first selected the best proposals from among those that were presented to the call and they were granted an advisory scholarship. Thus we have had the opportunity to meet many people dedicated to projects of great social value and to exchange knowledge and impressions about web strategies and online communication.
 
Specifically, on this occasion we have offered advice to: 'Fundación Talento', UNAD, Prohabitatge association, Lares, Ecos do sur -Ciberespect and the 'Associació Catalana per al Parkinson'.

iWith.org annually convenes prizes in different areas to promote a project and also, without being less important, to know those who are working to improve the world.

 
 

Why web 3.0 will be and is the digital revolution

No central point of control 
Middlemen are removed from the equation, blockchains like Ethereum provide a trust-less platform where the rules are unbreakable and data is fully encrypted. Alphabet and Apple will no longer have control of user data. No government or entity will have the ability to kill sites and services; and no single individual can control the identities of others.
 
Ownership of data 
End users will regain complete control of data and have the security of encryption. Information can then be shared on a case-by-case and permissioned basis.

At present, big companies like Amazon and Facebook have factories of servers storing information on dietary preferences, income, interests, credit card details and more. It’s not merely to improve their services — marketers and advertisers pay billions each year for the data.

Dramatic reduction in hacks and data breaches: Because data will be decentralized and distributed, hackers would need to turn off the entire network, while state-sponsored tools such as Vault7, used by the three-letter agencies, would be rendered obsolete.

At present, internet companies are compelled to hand over user data or succumb to having the entire database scrutinized. These data intrusions aren’t just limited to major security threats such as terrorism; in 2017, Coinbase took the IRS to court over its demand to see the data of over 15,000 customers.

Interoperability 
Applications will be easy to customize and device-agnostic, capable of running on smartphones, TVs, automobiles, microwaves and smart sensors. At present, applications are OS-specific, and are often limited to a single operating system. For instance, many Android cryptocurrency wallets are unavailable on iOs, causing frustration for consumers who use multiple devices. It adds expenses for developers tasked with issuing multiple iterations and updates of their software.

Permissionless blockchains
Anyone can create an address and interact with the network. The power to access permissionless chains cannot be overstated. Users will not be barred on account of geography, income, gender, orientation or a host of other sociological and demographic factors. Wealth and other digital assets can be transferred cross-border, quickly and efficiently, anywhere in the world.

Uninterrupted service
Account suspension and distributed denial of service are dramatically reduced. Because there’s no single point of failure, service disruption will be minimal. Data will be stored on distributed nodes to ensure redundancy and multiple backups will prevent server failure or seizure.
 

La plaça parla. La plaça ens relaciona.

Crònica de diàlegs creuats a la Plaça Catalunya durant l’Associa’t a la Festa (22-24 de setembre)

La plaça és un lloc per ser-hi, per compartir la vida, per viure-hi amb els altres. I vist així, la plaça hauria de ser una metàfora de la ciutat.
Però sovint les nostres ciutats no són un espai on vivim plenament, on compartim amb gent desconeguda. I si la plaça és metàfora de la ciutat, la Plaça Catalunya és metàfora de Barcelona. Habitualment, la plaça Catalunya és més aviat un lloc de pas, on les persones es creuen amb indiferència, ignoren els signes de desigualtat i conflicte social que s’hi viuen, on no s’hi dialoga: un lloc amb molta fama i no prou vida en comú en cada un dels seus racons. [I tanmateix, un enclau tan bonic, amb una rosa dels vents dibuixada a la seva pell assenyalant-nos que hi passa gent d’arreu, i que cadascú ha de poder escollir cap a on va.]

Les associacions de Barcelona, però, han tingut 3 dies, del 22 al 24, a la plaça Catalunya, per explicar i compartir com volen la ciutat: un espai per a trobar-se, per a donar-se suport, per a dialogar i aprendre les unes de les altres, per a divertir-se amb amics i en família, des de qualsevol condició i capacitat, i comptant les unes amb les altres. Per a créixer personalment amb les arts, i també amb la solidaritat, i també les aficions, i també els diàlegs. Diàlegs entre persones conegudes i desconegudes, diàlegs de mil maneres imaginables.

Perquè una de les coses que ens hem esforçat en aconseguir entre totes les que hem construït aquest lloc d’acollida i diàleg, és que es convertís en un pur espai de comunicació, de compartir i relacionar-se. Prop d’unes 2000 voluntàries d’entitats han estat jugant, xerrant, ballant, construint, cantant, debatent amb més de 60.000 persones durant tres dies molt intensos. Un munt d’experiències en comú, un d’aprenentatges i records.

Com no podem transmetre i mostrar els milions de diàlegs que es van anar produint al llarg de cada dia, i a l’ample de tota la plaça, el que sí que podem compartir ara són petjades, a mode d’anecdotari i testimoni de les tantes maneres de comunicar que vam compartir durant tres dies.

Què és veritat? Vivim en un oceà ple d’incògnites (Escrit al mur dels drets)
L’espai públic, la paraula oberta, és tan poc ofert a totes les persones, que quan hi accedim sovint ens acompanya l’impuls d’expressar-hi certeses, denúncies, exhortacions contundents. I la veritat és que l’espai públic, comunitari, també pot ser un espai de reflexió, de diàleg sense certeses, de recerca comuna i d’obertura.

Parlen les refugiades. Una parella passa pel mig de la plaça, on creua mirades amb persones que des d’un limb legal a les illes gregues apel·len a una resposta. Un grup de manifestants (a la columna dreta, foto del mig) transmet un missatge: l’alegria ha mort als nostres cors quan la humanitat ha mort als vostres. Sóc un noi i ploro sovint, no passa res!!!

Joves dels plans comunitaris de La Marina, Zona Nord i Navas, van preparar un taller animant les persones a confrontar els estereotips amb els que convivim, que de vegades ens coharten, però respecte als que podem afirmar-nos. Yo decido el cuándo, el dónde y con quién, va deixar penjat una noia després de fer-se una xapa que deia Sóc de Navas.

A l’Instagram van penjar també missatges: I am not opressed, deia una noia que porta vel; Sóc baixeta i arribo a tot arreu!, diu la Bet… i ja té raó!

Al Planeta Associacions, una esfera de 4 metres convidava a parlar d’emocions i motivacions, amb la pregunta “I a tu què et mou”, i persones d’arreu conversaven i penjaven els seus missatges.

En francès, algú reivindicava “Llibertat per les persones detingudes del moviment popular del Rif”. Al seu costat, unes hores abans algú donava al clau, en breu del que pensem nosaltres, que “la comunicación con la gente hace que el mundo esté mas unido”.

I en aquest bullici de gent en moviment, xerrant, deixant missatges,… enmig de la plaça les ràdios associatives feien una marató, parlant de vivenda digna, de drets de totes les persones, de música popular, de llibertat de pensament, i anaven entrevistant entitats que actuaven i feien tallers a la plaça. Aquí una mostra:

Han fet 20 hores de ràdio de forma col·lectiva, han donat veu a persones del carrer i a associacions de la ciutat. Quina iniciativa! Són la veu viva dels barris, una veu que arriba directa de les nostres comunitats.

I finalment, també hem tingut els llibres on les veïnes i veïns que van estar a la festa ens van retornar les seves impressions de l’Associa’t a la Festa, de l’experiència de la plaça Catalunya.

No passa tan sovint que veiem la plaça preparada com un espai de trobada, per quedar-s’hi i per compartir, amb persones conegudes i amb veïns que no coneixíem. La plaça Catalunya és massa sovint només un lloc de pas, o de referència, però l’excepció que vivim amb l’Associa’t a la Festa és que es converteix en un espai veïnal, col·laboratiu, per a quedar-s’hi, per viure-hi.
Aquests dies, més que mai la comunicació no ha estat d’audiències, ni de seguidors, ni likes, ni follows. La comunicació i l’èxit han estat parlar, diàlegs reposats, han estat els mil nou-cents i escaig de voluntàries i voluntaris i les desenes de milers de participants; han estat els tallers fets per joves, grans, d’aquí, d’allàs, artístics, solidaris, donant-se suport, transmetent-se coneixements i esperances, obrint les portes a viure millor juntes.

Així són els barris que volem i la ciutat que volem construir. Aquesta és la plaça pública que volem: una plaça que és de totes, per a totes i feta per totes. De tant en tant, ho anem fent realitat.

Alba Association The Alba association has received the web prize for health projects. The objective of the entity is to help organizations that promote health with criteria for improving society. The winning project will have an iWith.org website with accompaniment until 2021.
 

The Alba Association aims to provide comprehensive care for all those with any kind of disability, groups of young people and children, elderly people as well as other groups at risk of exclusion, based on their needs and the Your interests and those of your families. The purpose is to achieve maximum human development and maximum inclusion in society.



 

With this award, iWith.org will provide the entity with a portal that will allow to unify and coordinate in a single platform all the entities of the sector of the county of Urgell and La Segarra. In this case, it will try to make a web portal with resources from the entities of the sector, news, events agendas and resource guides.
